20 Years Of Clinical Experience – Meet The Founder of myPhysio

Hello, I’m Chris Aldred, founder of myPhysio and creator of Pelvipro.

My path in physiotherapy began over 20 years ago when I graduated from Manchester University in 2000. Shortly after, I had the incredible opportunity to serve as Lead Physiotherapist at an Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre in Shanghai, a facility founded by top New York specialists. Integrating advanced Western rehabilitation with Eastern health practices gave me a unique perspective on human movement and healing.

About myPhysio: A Trusted Reputation Built Over 15 Years

In 2009, I established myPhysio in central Harrogate, conveniently located just a short walk from both the bus and train stations. Over the past 15+ years, I have had the privilege of treating over 2,400 individuals, helping people across our local town and throughout North Yorkshire recover from acute injuries and long-term back pain.

At myPhysio, our clinical approach focuses on three core principles:

  • Accurate, Thorough Diagnosis: Uncovering the root cause of discomfort rather than just treating symptoms.
  • Hands-On Physical Therapy: Utilising tissue manipulation, joint mobilisation, and massage to relieve immediate pain and restore joint mobility.
  • Targeted Exercise Rehabilitation: Strengthening weak muscle groups and correcting movement patterns so you avoid repeat injuries.

While back, neck, and pelvic health are my core specialisms, myPhysio provides comprehensive care for joint pain, sports injuries, tendonitis, headaches, and post-operative rehabilitation.

Why I Created Pelvipro

When I returned home to Harrogate to set up my practice, I realised something vital: clinic treatments are only half the battle. Real, long-term freedom from lower back pain relies on self management. I wanted my patients to have the tools to maintain correct pelvic and spinal alignment long after leaving my treatment room.

To make that a reality, I collaborated with researchers at York St John University to develop a simple, portable device that mirrors the alignment techniques I perform in clinic.

With guidance from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), we put the device through rigorous testing. The trials showed remarkable results—not only in relieving pain, but in retraining the body to hold its optimal healing position. Today, Pelvipro is officially registered as a Class 1 Medical Device with the MHRA.

My Commitment to Your Care

Whether treating you in person at myPhysio in Harrogate or helping you manage your back health at home, my goal remains the same: combining clinical evidence with practical self-care so you can move freely, sleep soundly, and live without the burden of back pain.
